Slow but sure progress

Every weekend I do a little bit more...still seems like I have a long way to go...but here's what it looks like today. :)  Pretty much what I have done is kill and rake out all of the weeds, spread out the tiles randomly and then lay down mulch.  Mother Nature is doing the rest, love how green the flower garden is.

As Spring Moves Into Summer

I'm exhausted.

This year we decided to be a little more pro-active in the weed abatement department.  We invested a few hundred dollars into some heavy-duty Round-up and have been going around a few days a week to spray.  Mother Nature has helped with drizzles of rain in between which assists in the process.  This has helped TREMENDOUSLY in the laborious task of hoeing, mowing, pulling and weed-wacking.  Today, however we had to go out and face the remaining BEASTS that survived.  When I say BEASTS, I am in no way, shape or form exaggerating.  In fact, I have called them every name in the book and BEAST is actually the most G-rated one I can post.

In 5 weeks we will be having a huge party for my son's graduation.  So it is pretty important that we clean up the property and make it presentable.  The task of landscaping the yard has been on hold for about a year, but now it is time for me to get back to it.  Right now this is what the yard looks like:

It's mainly dirt, weeds, some over-grown trees, a few scraggly rose bushes and random palms.  Last year I started planting flowers gardens around the perimeter of the house...some of it over-grown, some of it destroyed by gophers and rabbits...so that also needs some attention.

Today was trimming and weed-pulling day. (did I mention, I am exhausted?)  The remainder of the weeds have been sprayed with Round-up, so this time next week, the front, back and side yards should be weed-free.  The next step is to plant some shrubs on the outside perimeter and throw down some dark-brown mulch over the dirt.  Andy will have to trim back the trees too.  This should give the front yard a nice clean look and help cut back on the future weed issue.

Hope to have some great new photos next weekend!
